Seoul Shopping

Shopping in Seoul

Hooray if you’ve landed in Incheon, I’ve travelled to Seoul a few times and wanted to share a few of my favourite places to stay eat and shop.

So firstly you need to get to your hotel of course you can take a taxi or the train but lately I’ve been on a budget so have taken the bus from just outside the airport which drops right next to my latest budget hotel 'Ibis styles' in Myeongdong. It’s a great location just a couple of minutes walk to the shops in Myeongdong. If you’ve got a bit more cash to splash then the Westin or the Lotte are a bit more luxurious plus the Lotte has the BEST buffet as a treat for dinner.

So the only downside of travelling to Seoul is the jet lag😴 the flight I normally take arrives at 7am so you have an entire day to get through without going to sleep! So my advice is don’t stop, I drop my bags to the room and head straight out, grab a coffee and get shopping. If you’re hungry and fancy something basic to eat head to 'Tous les jours', if you fancy something comforting after a long flight like I do, these bread and sausage options will sort you out!

Now for shopping, I start with Namdaemun market, a lot of places are for wholesalers but you can still grab lots of goodies from accessories, jewellery, socks and souvenirs.

One evening head out to Myeongdong, its great at night such a busy buzzy atmosphere. You will find loads of beauty shops and some mainstream stores but I like to try and find the Korean brands, keep your eyes peeled for the underground shops which have more Korean designers at cheaper prices.

A must visit for me when in Seoul is Daiso, 4 floors of Korean goodies from stationery to homewares it’s like a Korean pound land. I have been known to come out with a flamingo shaped watering can and kids chopsticks 🤷‍♀️

You can also visit chuu supermarket where virtually everything sold is pink, or visit dog or cat cafe if you are so inclined - bonkers!

Outside on the streets of Myeongdong is where I like to buy my socks, they always have cute designs and colours. The quality is great too so I get some for the whole family. There are also stalls selling accessories and clothing. While wandering the streets you can grab some street food, fresh fruit, pancakes, fried chicken or potato swizzle sticks (I’m not sure the correct name😂) there is a lot more available but I have to admit I’m yet to try the fried and dried fish🐟

If you are still hungry there is loads of great food in Seoul, you have to try the famous Korean barbecue or some amazing fresh sushi.

Have fun.
